If you are looking for a good book to read this summer, give Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella a try!
Fourteen-year-old Audrey wears dark glasses even indoors. She rarely leaves the house and talking to people other than her family is a no-go. Audrey wasn't always this way. She used to go to a regular school, had normal relationships and had no problem functioning. And then IT happened. After a traumatizing event with a bully, life for Audrey is no longer the same.
Things were going fine for Audrey, until she met Linus. Linus is Audrey's brother's best friend and he has been hanging around her home a lot. At first it was easy to ignore him, but Linus has a way of communicating with Audrey and now she cannot stop thinking about him. Audrey is no longer satisfied with living her life as a recluse and with some help from Linus, maybe, just maybe she will be able to function in the real world again.
Finding Audrey is both heartbreaking and hilarious and it explores the lasting effects bullying can have on a person and their families.
