Maggot Moon by Sally Gardner

Winner of the 2012 Costa Children's Printz Award, Maggot Moon follows a young, dyslexic boy named Standish.  Set in 1950, Standish is living in what seems to be an alternate reality in which the "Motherland" has control over his country.

This book, by Sally Gardner, centers around the fact that the "great Motherland" has landed on the moon.

However, Standish soon finds out that the moon landing was in fact fake, a hoax the get the citizens to believe that their country was the best.  After finding this out, Standish sacrifices it all he has and does everything in his power to let the people know that the moon landing was a hoax.

Though this book may not be the best book I have ever read, I would still definitely recommend this book, though not to everyone.  This book will leave you thinking many "What if's" for a long time.  A good read especially during long car rides.
