Untwine by Edwidge Danticat

Isabelle and Giselle Boyer are identical twin sisters. They do everything together and remain close even as their family seems to be falling apart. On their way to a music event, the Boyers encounter a tragic accident, that shatters their world and may have a chance of bringing the family together.

From the accident, Giselle wakes up in the hospital with injuries, unable to move or speak. During her way to recovery, she tries to piece together the accidents’ details while the doctors and her own family mistaken her as Isabelle. They begin to suspect that what was originally considered an accident, might not have been, prompting the police to go into further investigation.

A life from the accident has been taken and it has affected the family greatly. From then on, the ones who have been left learn to forgive and have strength in matters that seem hopeless. The Boyers that remain try to recover emotionally and physically.

Will this accident tear the family apart even more? Or will the Boyers grow and adapt to changes together?

Untwine by Edwidge Danticat is a mesmerizing story about family, love, loss and sisterhood. I recommend this book to you if you like books about romance, friendship and if you want to see a wise teenager deal with loss, grief and her broken family.
