Nil by Lynne Matson

Nil by Lynne Matson

On the island of Nil, you have exactly one year -365 days- to escape, or you will die.

Seventeen years old Charley didn't know that. one moment she was in a parking lot in a town in United States, and the next she was lying alone in the middle of a red rock field.

Soon, she encounters other people, and Thad, the handsome leader of Nil City, the 'city' of other teenage refugees. She fell in love, and discovered that leaving would be harder than she imagined. Thad has less than 75 days, and Charley doesn't plan on leaving without him. To save their future, she has to save him first.

The only way home is by going through gates of shimmering air. A gate can only transport one person. They arrive unexpectedly and are usually gone within a few minutes. However, multiple gates do sometimes appear at once, so would Nil be generous enough to give them one to catch?
